Beyond The Injury
An Injury Doesn't Just Affect the Body.
For young athletes, being sidelined can affect confidence, identity, motivation, and mental well-being.
Beyond The Injury is my initiative to help young athletes by combining science, mental-health awareness, and emerging recovery research.
Prevent Smarter. Recover Stronger. Return Whole.

About Me
Hi, I'm Aarav Sanghani.
Tennis has been a major part of my life.
I have competed in varsity tennis for three years, taken on leadership roles within my team, represented Tompkins Tennis through SALT, and coached young athletes at a tennis academy with more than 50 members.
Coaching changed how I looked at sports. I saw young athletes overtrain before tryouts. I saw players struggle with recurring wrist and elbow problems. I saw the pressure athletes can feel—from themselves and from the people around them—to keep going even when their bodies are telling them to stop.
My interest became personal when a friend's ankle injury kept him from competing during an important senior-year season. I began asking a bigger question:
What happens to an athlete beyond the injury?
That question now connects my interests in tennis, youth coaching, healthcare, mental health, and nanoscience research.
Mission
Recovery Is More Than Physical.
Beyond The Injury exists to raise awareness about the physical and psychological sides of sports injuries among young athletes.
Research
1 / Nanogels & Sports-Injury Recovery
Under the guidance of Dr. Kristina Lilova, I am conducting nanoscience research exploring the properties of nanogels and their potential relevance to sports-injury healing.
This research allows me to connect two areas I care deeply about: Athletics + Science
Through Beyond The Injury, I hope to explore how emerging technologies could contribute to the future of physical recovery while continuing to advocate for the psychological well-being of injured athletes.
My academic work has also explored:
The Different Effects of Neurological Development
How environment, extracurricular activities, socioeconomic conditions, and other factors may relate to adolescent neurological development.
